MOHALI: The police have booked three doctors of a private hospital in Zirakpur for medical negligence after a 40-year-old woman resident of Nagla village died.
The three were identified as Monika, Amrish Mittal and Ashish.
According to the FIR, the woman was suffering from acute stomach pain for last couple of months. On August 8, she and her husband approached the hospital. An ultrasound report revealed stones in her gall bladder. The doctors performed a surgery to remove the foreign objects. The woman was discharged from the hospital. However, her stitches re-opened many a times, forcing her to visit the hospital thrice.
On Sunday, she again went to the hospital after her stitches tore apart around 12.30pm. However, doctors called up her husband Krishan Ram at 3pm to inform that she had passed away and he could collect the body. Ram with a group of village residents landed at the hospital and launched a protest, accusing the doctors of negligence and demanded they be booked.
Though the hospital authorities did not release any statement, a police official said the three were booked under section 304 A of the IPC. Raids were being conducted to arrest them. The hospital was also asked to provide medical documents of the woman.
Sources said Ram had borrowed money from some villagers for the treatment of his wife, who has left behind two children.
