VIJAYAWADA: A six-year-old boy died due to alleged medical negligence at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Machilipatnam on Tuesday morning.

Putti Susanth, a native of Nelaparru village of Machilipatnam, was brought to the GGH on Monday night for treatment following a snake bite. However, the doctor on duty at the time, Neelima, allegedly sent back the boy and his family members saying it was not a snake bite but an insect bite.

The condition of the boy deteriorated during the night after he went home and when his family rushed him to the GGH on Tuesday morning, he was declared brought dead by the hospital authority.

The bereaved family and villagers staged a protest at the hospital demanding suspension of the doctor.
