HYDERABAD: Based on a complaint by software engineer, Yerabolu Vijay Kumar, who alleged that Shravya Speech and Hearing Centre in SR Nagar, made a wrong diagnosis to his daughter resulting in speech disordersfor her, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights(SCPCR) has issued an official memorandum to the district medical and health officer (DMHO) to conduct an enquiry and initiate appropriate action.

Terming the wrong diagnosis and subsequent treatment to be a case of 'gross medical negligence', the memorandum reads as follows, "The complainant alleges that the above speech and hearing centre has wrongly diagnosed the problems of his daughter, Akshara, now seven-year-old, when she was two-and-a-half-year-old and gave a hearing aid by charging 40,000." "My daughter's condition did not get any better even after using hearing aids for more than two years," read the letter submitted to SCPCR.
