Man dies in CHC, BJP alleges negligence

21 December, 2016

JAIPUR: Tension prevailed at Barachana Community Health Centre (CHC) in the district on Tuesday following the death of an unidentified man due to alleged medical negligence. As the news spread, BJP workers sat on a dharna before the CHC seeking action against the medical staff who did not treat the man leading to his death.

According to sources, an unidentified middle-aged man from Chandikhole was admitted in the CHC by some scribes on Monday night. Due to shortage of beds, he had to stay on the hospital verandah and neither doctor nor any medical staff attended to him leading to his death late in the night. On Tuesday morning, he was found dead by the scribes who had come to the hospital to see him.

When the scribes sought the man’s medical records, the hospital authorities could not provide any. The scribes and BJP workers alleged that no nurse or doctor attended to him in the hospital leading to his death. This led tension at the hospital.
Barachana police reached the spot and chased away the BJP workers, who were on dharna. Three BJP workers,  including BJP  state secretary Simantini Jena, sustained injuries following police action.
Jena filed an FIR with Barachana police alleging assault on the BJP workers and misbehaviour with women workers.
