HYDERABAD: While justice was handed out to S Nikhil Reddy in the limb-lengthening surgery case with a two-year ban on the surgeon, Dr G Chandra Bhushan, along with six other cases early this month, it turns out that the Telangana state medical council (TSMC) is yet to take a call on 22 other cases still pending with them.

This came to light following a query filed with TSMC by city-based activist Mujtaba Hasan Askari under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. "Till date, 34 complaints were registered with TSMC by respective victims against their doctors for medical negligence and unethical acts. They have taken a decision only on 12 cases, including Nikhil Reddy's," said Askari, who is also a complainant in one of the 22 pending cases.

TSMC registrar N Narahari stated that out of total 34 cases, probes were conducted in 28 cases. They are yet to commence the inquiry process in six cases.
