Hospital vandalized over patients death

BAREILLY: Blaming negligence on the part of doctors, family members and relatives of a patient who died at a hospital here on Sunday ransacked the premises.



According to police, Liaqat Hussain, 40, was brought to the Al- Quershi Hospital, in Jasoliarea under Qila police station, following complications of fever around 11 am. He was discharged after some time but his health deteriorated when he reached home. Hussain died soon after.



Speaking to TOI, owner of the hospital Nasit Qureshi said, "The patient was brought to our hospital with complications of viral fever. He was discharged after being administered some paracetamol and injections commonly used to treat viral fever. But the patient died at his residence an hour later. A mob came over and destroyed hospital property, including furniture, coolers, refrigerator and medical equipment. They also came to my residence and threatened my family with dire consequences."

On the other hand, relatives of the deceased claimed that medical negligence was the reason behind his death. The body has been sent for post-mortem, cops said. "Hussain died moments after he was discharged. We have filed a complaint of medical negligence. We want justice be served to his wife and four daughters," said Ashu, Hussain's relative.
