GHAZIABAD: In an alleged case of medical negligence a five old kid died in city's Combined Hospital after he was administered wrong injection. The deceased Ashu's family allege that he died on Tuesday morning soon after the nurse administered him injection. A complaint has been lodged in Kavinagar police station. The body has been sent for post mortem even though Chief Medical Superintendent of Combined Hospital is denying that it is case of medical negligence.
"Ashu was admitted to Combined Hospital on Monday evening and we were told that he is suffering from pneumonia" says Rampal Singh, Ashu's grandfather. "He was recovering well but on Tuesday morning he complained of stomach pain and we duly informed the nurse who was on the duty at that time" adds Rampal. "After considerable delay the nurse finally came to the ward to see Ashu and after talking to Dr RC Gupta on phone she administered him injection. Within seconds of being given the injection he started writhing in pain and died soon after" continues Rampal. He further alleges that Ashu was doing fine but as soon as the injection was administered he died.
Chief Medical Superintendent of Combined Hospital Dr Dinesh Sharma meanwhile has refuted charge of medical negligence and said that the patient had developed acute pneumonia and they had apprised the family of his condition. "Ashu was brought to hospital on Monday evening with acute pneumonia and we had apprised his parents of his condition" says Dr Dinesh Sharma, CMS, Combined Hospital. "The injection that was administered to Ashu was same that was administered before so to infer that he died of same injection would be wrong" adds Dr Sharma.
The police meanwhile has lodged a formal complaint but FIR has not been registered yet. Ashok Sisodiya, SHO, Kavinagar police station says "as we talk post mortem by a medical board is being conducted which will ascertain whether it is a case of medical negligence or not and we will be in a position to lodged an FIR only after medical board's opinion."
