Two doctors sacked, two others suspended in Kousar case

The State government dismissed two doctors of the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics (SGITO), Bangalore and suspended two others for medical negligence while treating 3-year-old Mariyam Kousar who suffered brain damage after she was allegedly administered an overdose of anesthesia. Two sourced-in anesthesia specialists Dr Surangama Tripathi and Dr Deepak were dismissed, according to Madan Gopal, Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare. Dr Prakashappa T H, Unit 4 HoD, Orthopaedics, and Dr Shivalingiah, Professor and HoD, Anaesthesia, were also suspended suspended.
