NEDUMANGAD: A four-year-old boy collapsed and died after consuming medicine for fever. A scuffle broke out after his relatives and local residents alleged medical negligence in treatment. The boy died has been identified as Sivanand, son of Sajeev and Renju of Perumala.
The doctor who treated him at the taluk hospital last evening gave him medicine and sent him back home. Soon after consuming the tablet this morning, he collapsed. Though he was immediately taken to the hospital, he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Alleging medical negligence, his relatives turned against the doctors. A tense situation was witnessed in the hospital following the incident. The Nedumangad police reached the spot. The situation was brought under control after doctors informed to probe the case if they have suspect medical negligence. Police said the body of the boy would be shifted to the medical college hospital for post mortem.
